Socket preservation is a bone grafting/augmentation procedure that is done in order to preserve bone and tissue quantity, usually for a future dental implant at the time of extraction.

Socket preservation benefits:

• Faster healing and recovery after the extraction.
• Preservation of most (but not all) previous bone dimensions.
• Increased stimulation of proper cells for new bone formation.
• Prevention of dry socket.
