Dental Implants-Are You A candidate?-Deluxe Dentistry

ARE YOU A CANDIDATE FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Dental Implants

Are you missing one or more teeth?  Dental implants are by far the best way to replace a missing tooth and they have a 97% success rate.

The short answer to this question is: Anyone who is healthy enough to undergo a tooth extraction is likely a suitable candidate for dental implants. However, these are certain contraindications that may complicate or prohibit implant treatment. Patients with certain conditions, such as chronic diseases, heavy smoking or alcohol abuse may not be candidates for implants. Your Deluxe Dentistry’s Dental Implant Dentist will determine whether or not this treatment is right for you after an examination as well as an evaluation of your medical history.

Whether you’re just missing one tooth, several teeth, or even all of your teeth, dental implants are, by far, the best way to replace them. They look, feel and function just like natural teeth.

What if I’m not a candidate for Dental Implants?

Having healthy gums and bone is something we look for to see if someone is a candidate. Our Dental Implant Dentist will examine your gu ms as well as provide a scan of your bone mass to determine if you are a candidate for dental implants. If necessary, you may be a candidate after procedures known as Bone Grafting/Ridge Augmentation or a Sinus Lift.

 Bone Grafting/Ridge Augmentation

When you lose a tooth, the bone that held the tooth in place starts to deteriorate. Loss of bone support around existing teeth may also happen if you have periodontal (gum) disease. If you’ve had a missing tooth for a few years, you may not have adequate bone density for a dental implant. The loss of a tooth and surrounding bone often results in the sagging of facial features, which can prematurely age the face and complicate treatment for the replacement of missing teeth.

Fortunately, with the use of the latest bone grafting techniques, the bone can often times be rebuilt to adequate levels for the placement of individual or multiple implants. However, if you’re interested in implant dentistry, Dr. Godko strongly believes it’s best to start proper planning of the case before the tooth or teeth are lost in order to set yourself up for ultimate success.

Internal Sinus Lift

When your upper jaw loses a molar, your sinus can drop lower and prevent you from having enough vertical space for an Dental Implant. If the drop was not very extensive and doesn’t require significant “lifting”, it can be done with an internal sinus lift approach here at Deluxe Dentistry by our Dental Implant Dentist.

An internal sinus lift is a minimally invasive and very technique specific procedure that we can do for you. Dr. Godko does not offer the classic crestal sinus lift approach as it is more invasive and often harder to recover from.

Deluxe Dentistry specializes in the latest techniques and procedures to ensure you are not just a candidate for Dental Implants, but most importantly your Dental Implant are a success.
