Why patients choose Deluxe for root canals

Your Root Canal and Your Crown, Finished in One Office Instead of Two

An endodontist’s office treats the canals, then sends you back to your own dentist for the crown, with new appointments and a tooth waiting unprotected in between. At Deluxe, the whole job stays in one office. The ADA explains what a root canal involves.

Catch it early

Nothing yet? Regular exams with digital x-rays find a pulp in trouble before it becomes an emergency.

Why it happens

What Puts the Pulp at Risk

The pulp at the center of every tooth holds its nerve and blood supply. Once bacteria or an injury damage it, it can’t heal on its own, and root canal treatment is how the tooth is saved.

A deep cavity

Decay that isn’t treated works its way through the enamel and dentin until bacteria reach the pulp.

A crack or chip

Even a fine crack can let bacteria in and inflame the pulp, especially in back teeth that take heavy bites.

An injury

A blow to the mouth can damage the pulp even when the tooth looks fine, and it may darken months later.

Repeated work

Several large fillings or procedures on one tooth can irritate the pulp over time.

How it works

Root Canal Treatment, One Step at a Time

Tap through the treatment, from the infected tooth to your new crown.

Step1of5

An infected tooth

Deep decay, a crack or an injury lets bacteria reach the pulp, the soft nerve tissue inside the tooth. It becomes inflamed or infected.

Save it or pull it?

Two Paths for an Infected Tooth

Saving your natural tooth comes first at Deluxe. Extraction is recommended only when a tooth can’t be restored, and then Dr. Godko removes it himself and plans the replacement. See tooth extraction.

Root canal + crown

Save the tooth

  • Your natural tooth, root and all, stays in place
  • Normal bite force and efficient chewing
  • Neighboring teeth keep their support and don’t drift
  • No gap to fill with an implant, a bridge or a partial

Root Canal Treatment, Explained by Dr. Godko

What a root canal is, who needs one, whether it will hurt, and what makes the treatment succeed, in Dr. Godko’s own words.

How a root canal works

Dr. Godko walks through the whole treatment, start to finish.

Aftercare

After Your Root Canal

Recovery is usually quick. These simple steps help the tooth settle and keep it healthy.

Wait for the numbness to fade

Eat once the numbness wears off, so you don’t bite your cheek, lip or tongue.

Go gently for a few days

Mild tenderness when you bite is normal at first. Softer foods on that side help while it settles.

Keep brushing and flossing

Clean the treated tooth like any other, right along the gumline around its crown.

Have changes checked

Swelling, pain that grows instead of easing, or a bite that feels high should be checked. Both offices are ready to immediately assist with any concerns.

Protect it if you grind

A custom night guard protects the crown and the treated tooth while you sleep.

Keep your checkups

Regular exams with x-rays confirm the area around the root is healing and catch new decay early.

FAQ

Root Canal Treatment: Your Questions, Answered

With an exam and digital x-rays. He looks at how much healthy tooth remains, whether a crack reaches the root and how much bone supports it. If the tooth can be restored, he saves it with a root canal; if it can’t, he tells you why and plans the replacement.

The severe pain comes from the infected nerve, and the root canal removes it. The tooth is fully numbed first, so treatment feels much like getting a filling, and sedation is available if you’re nervous.

One for most teeth. A molar has more canals than a front tooth, so it takes longer, and a complex case, such as a curved canal or a heavy infection, gets a second appointment. Dr. Godko tells you which applies to your tooth at your personalized consultation.

Usually, yes. A treated tooth is more brittle, especially a back tooth that takes heavy chewing forces, and a crown protects it from cracking. At Deluxe your new crown is placed the same day, so the tooth goes home protected instead of waiting weeks for another appointment.

No. Deluxe offers periodontal, endodontic, prosthodontic and oral surgery services under one roof. Dr. Godko performs root canal therapy in-house, without referring you to an outside endodontist.

Root canal treatment has a high success rate. A tooth can become reinfected through new decay, a crack or a leaking restoration; then retreatment, an apicoectomy (root-end surgery) when appropriate, a new crown or an extraction is the next step, and Dr. Godko explains which one fits.

Often, yes. A nerve can die quietly, and pain often stops because the nerve has died while the infection stays inside the tooth and can spread into the bone around the root. A tooth that darkens, an old injury, a deep cavity or a dark spot at the root tip on an x-ray all point to a pulp in trouble, so have the tooth checked even when it goes quiet.

Treatment of the pulp, the soft nerve tissue inside the tooth. The inflamed or infected pulp is removed, the canals are cleaned, disinfected, shaped and sealed, and a crown protects the tooth, so your natural tooth stays in place.
