Number and timing. Traditional treatment places an implant for each missing tooth, or lets the implants heal under the gums for months before any teeth are attached. All-on-4 uses four implants, placed where your 3D CT scan shows your strongest bone, to carry a whole arch, and they are placed with the stability to hold your new teeth the day of surgery.
Your procedure is typically done with local anesthesia, which numbs the treatment area. If you prefer, Dr. Godko gives nitrous oxide, oral or IV sedation himself; with IV sedation you rest in a deep, sleep-like state and most patients remember little of the appointment. Expect some soreness for the first few days.
Most people with failing teeth or a loose denture who want a fixed arch. Bone loss does not automatically rule you out: the implants are placed where your 3D CT scan shows the most bone, Dr. Godko performs bone grafting and sinus lifts in-house when more is needed, and he gives you a clear answer at your $1 consultation.
