Reline It, Replace It or Anchor It on Implants, All in One Office

A reline, a rebase, a new denture or implants: answer two questions to see your likely path.

Your denture’s age

The problem

Reline

A reline is likely the answer

When the denture itself is still in good shape, a reline refits its inside to your gums so it sits snugly again.

A guide, not a diagnosis. Your denture and gums are checked at your personalized consultation.

Why dentures loosen

The types of denture relines

After teeth are lost, the gums and the jawbone beneath them slowly shrink and change shape. The denture doesn’t change with them, so a good fit slowly becomes a loose one. A reline adds new material to the inside of the denture so it hugs your gums again. The right type depends on your gums and how your denture fits.

Hard reline

A firm acrylic, the same kind of material as the denture base, reshaped to your gums for a precise, sturdy fit.

Soft reline

A flexible, cushioning liner that is gentler on thin or tender gums and helps prevent sore spots.

Healing reline

A soothing liner, also called tissue conditioning, that lets red or swollen gums settle before a hard reline or a new denture.

Rebase

The whole pink base is replaced while your denture teeth are kept, for a denture whose base is worn but whose teeth are still in good shape.

FAQ

Denture relines: your questions, answered

Your denture and the gums beneath it are examined first, so any sore or swollen spots are cared for before the reline. A thin layer is then removed from the inside of the denture, an impression of your gums is taken right inside it, and new reline material is shaped to that impression. The fit and bite are checked and adjusted so the denture sits snugly again.

It slips when you talk or eat, you need more adhesive than you used to, food gets trapped underneath, or it has started to rub. Those are signs the fit has changed.

Most dentures typically need a reline every one to two years, because the gums and jawbone keep changing shape after teeth are lost. The gums shrink most in the months after teeth are removed, so a newer denture may need its first reline sooner. The fit is checked at your regular visits, so a reline is done when you need it.

Reline it when the denture is in good shape but no longer fits your gums. Rebase it when the pink base is worn or weakened but the denture teeth are still good, since the base is replaced around them. Replace it when the teeth are worn or cracked or the denture is many years old; a new denture or one anchored on implants serves you better then.

No. A repair fixes a crack or a broken tooth on the denture. A reline changes the fit against your gums. If yours is cracked, keep the pieces and call either office.

Not for long. A little adhesive can add confidence, but needing more and more of it means the denture no longer fits, and a reline fixes the fit itself.

When slipping keeps coming back. Snap-on dentures clip onto titanium implants, and full-arch implants replace the denture with fixed teeth, starting at $18,999 per arch. Dr. Godko places every implant himself.

A reline is priced at your personalized consultation, once your denture and gums have been checked. We accept PPO plans and most carriers, including CIGNA, MetLife, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Delta Dental and GEHA Connection Dental. No Medicaid, DMO or HMO plans accepted. We work with your insurance to ensure you receive the maximum benefit. 0% financing through Cherry and our in-house membership plans are also available.

No. Deluxe offers periodontal, endodontic, prosthodontic and oral surgery services under one roof, so relines, new dentures, clear partials and the implants for snap-on dentures are all handled in the same office.
